Snowboarding #2 - Mt. High

I'm sick and I got the flu and I'm here working. I dont have any sick leave yet since Im new here.. so I had to deal with it. I have aches and pains since Saturday from our snowboard trip. It was fun though coz it's the first time I reached the top of the mountain. It's such a challenge but I chickened out on my way down coz I still dont know how to do "heel side".

2) pack up (shirt, jeans, essentials, etc)
3) print NBA Jam Session tix
4) water bottle and chips
5) iPod
6) laptop

The Date

Met up at 8pm then went to Pasadena to hang out and watch Music and Lyrics. I actually "forced" Darwin to watch this movie and I think he liked it because Drew Barrymore is there and she's so cute. Got the tickets first at Laemmle's and had dinner at Hurry Curry since the movie starts at 10pm. We got a seat in a flash which is good coz there's only a few people inside. He had Tokyo curry (ground beef with curry and egg) and I had Pork Cutlet with curry on the side. The food was good and I actually liked what Darwin had than mine. I almost finished what's on his plate. =P All restaurants were packed and I remember when we had dinner at Cheesecake Factory 3 years ago for Valentine's, it took us an hour just to wait for a table. Been there, done that.

The movie started with Hugh Grant dancing an 80s song which sounds like A-HA and the song got stuck in my head. It's sooo catchy...

POP! Goes my Heart...

I like the opening song better than what they composed.. haha I might DL it later. Sooo funny.

Lovely sweet night.

Incubus Tour 2007 @ Wiltern

OK... We ate first before we left the apartment at 6ish and on our way to Wiltern, we listened to the setlist from their previous shows on my ipod. When we passed the venue at Western and Wilshire (peeps from LA will understand what Im talkin about coz if you ask where it is, we give them the cross street) and saw the long line building up.. I cant help but scream Incubus!!! I cant believe Im gonna see them live! I kept hugging Darwin and telling him how excited I am. We got in line at 7ish and while we're on it, there are guys waving at us from Wiltern. I thought it's Mike (lead guitarist) coz of his curly hair.. but it's from the band Albert Jr. who's gonna do the front act. We also noticed the equipment of the band so I took a "steal" shot of it from my cellphone. I actually followed Aileen's suggestion when I read her blog back on March 2004 when she watched Incubus. I had my digital camera wrapped on a paper tissue that's why I cant use my digicam until we pass the security check.

The door opened at 8ish and they're not actually that strict on cameras. =P We stayed at the 3rd level of the pit. We have a good view of the stage. The 4 girls right beside us, who I think are 16 year olds.. are hard core fans. They have VIP passes that were auctioned on eBay and they have a 30 minute pre-show meet and greet. There's only 25 VIP passes per show but damn, look how expensive it is =P

VIP Pass auction

The Albert Mammond Jr band played for an hour then sound check for 30mins or so.. then Chris (DJ) came in first, then Jose (drummer), Ben (bass), Mike then Brandon!!! And all you see is their shadow. It's so exciting and I screamed really loud til they played Quicksand. The best performance for me is Sick Sad Little World were Brandon has this gloves with light on it and he focuses it on Jose, Ben and Mike while they are doing their thing. Darwin is really mad at the DJ because he's not doing anything. heheh

I had goosebumps when they played Dig coz Darwin and I really like that song and everyone sings with them. The crowd is loving it. After Dig, I know they'll come back for the encore and it's good that they chose Megalomaniac as the last song.

We had a blast.. Im actually still on a bliss! We bought Incubus shirt outside for $10 each coz the one they're selling at the bar is $35 which is too much. We also ate 'dirty' hotdog outside which is REALLLY good. We listened to Incubus again on our way home.

I got addicted to Brandon Boyd so I wiki'd him and found out that his birthday is one week before Darwin's bday =). He also published a book and he did some of Incubus artworks and he's a surfer!!! He'll be on the Jimmy Kimmel show on his birthday and I already Tivo'd it.

Drive video (from my cam)

Dig video (from hungryartiste).. everyone is singing and lovin this song.

A Kiss to Send Us Off (from yahoo) - one of my fave songs from their new album Light Grenades

The setlist last night.. "Look Alive" was not played though

The Equipment (taken from my cellphone)

Really CLOSE shot of BRANDON and Darwin was like... "tama na yan!" hehe

I used the "normal" picture mode on ALL my shots. I just recently discovered it while Im playing with my Fuji Finepix Z1 =P

Thank you! It's the best (advance) Vday present.. mwaah!

My Weekend and Snowboarding

Feb 9, Went to Bakersfield after work to pickup my "pasalubongs" from the Philippines and to give my uncle the gifts I'll send to my mom, siblings, Darwin's god-daughter and to DJ's soon to be son.. Oh! Im gonna have a nephew =) I gave him a Baby Gap outfit and I must say it's sooooo cute. We got Yesha a Baby Gap dress too and there's more cute stuff for girls! =P I arrived in Bakersfield at 5ish and decided to get a mocha frap from Starbucks. They actually have a drive thru - hahaha. I stayed there for the night coz it might rain. Me and my uncle had a nice conversation regarding politics... We discussed about oil and its effect to global warming... As we get deeper on the topic, you'd notice that he's a republican.. well, I'm not! haha

Feb 10, we went to Big Bear and it's a two and a half hour drive from LA. We almost got lost because the 210 freeway is closed for construction. Thanks to Garmin (GPS) we reached our destination. We had some trouble finding the alternate route because Garmin is not updated, but through our instincts, we made it. There's two ski resorts in Big Bear and we're actually supposed to go to Snow Summit but since all the tickets were sold out, we end up at Bear Mountain. We had lunch at Carl's Jr at 12ish then rent the board and boots and we reached the lift at 1pm. I only had 3 runs because Im too slow.. hehe Im scared of getting hurt and breaking my leg or something. It was worth it though and I had fun. Got some souvenir magnet at the gift shop then head home at 5ish. We had Shakey's pizza for dinner (hawaiian thin crust, fried chix and mojos - yummy!)

Feb 11, I had lunch at Bloomingdales with Joyce and the food their was ok and soooo expensive. I had tuna sandwich and she treated me out though so it's ok. =) Im never gonna come back there. =P Too over priced.

Workout Day#3

Last night, I went to the gym right after work and it's ALL packed!!! I had second thoughts of just going home coz I dont want to waste my time waiting. But I waited... coz if I keep on procrastinating, I will never EVER workout. I was actually supposed to go the other night, and I shopped instead.. my bad! =) Anyways, my co-worker told me that I didnt need to workout coz I have a great body (smiles).. but honestly, I hate my tummy. I wanna have a perfect abs someday (dreaming...)

There's a long line on the treadmill so I used the Cross Ramp first. I burned 250 calories for 30 minutes. Nice! I listened to my ipod while I workout and I just love my playlist. Some people read a magazine or a book and that's just retarded.. I think I mentioned that on my previous post. hahaha Here's my playlist.

When I got home, I cooked sarsiado and fried tilapia then watched American Idol. I also watched the Aviator but I fell asleep... I guess I was just soo tired.

Weekend Shopping

Saturday morning, we went to Topanga Mall to check out Ruehl and Zara. I didn't get anything but Darwin bought pants at Zara. Bought cinnamon bites at Cinnabon then drove to Beverly Center using Laurel Canyon instead of Interstate 101. On our way to Bev Center, we noticed this Vietnamese Restaurant with an interesting name.... Absolutely PHObulous. hahaha.. nice =) Anyways, had lunch at Sbarro and got myself a pizza while Darwin had jap food. Went shopping and I got myself a cute top at H&M and Forever 21. After an hour or so.. we headed to Flight Club to check the "hard to find" shoes that Darwin's been talking about.. he's a "sneaker head" now... you know, those guys who's into Air Jordans.. Would you believe that he bought 5 shoes in a month?? Damns.. I asked Darwin if we can stop by at Ikea, and we did.. I LOVE that store.. we bought the "hanging" shoe container, a runner (rug), and a set of plates. I have to return the runner though coz it's too short. Went to Target to do some grocery. What a loooong day huh?! Got home at around 10pm

Sunday, nothing exciting... I just did my laundry while watching Super Bowl then I reformatted the desktop and installed WinXP and its necessary drivers. I had a hard time looking for the audio drivers but I found it online. Thanks to Google =) I will install Apache + PHP on that computer this week. I also installed Office XP and made some tweak on how to login on Darwin's friend laptop.
