Go Lakers!

I told myself that I will only blog about the NBA finals when Lakers win tonight... and they did! Finally, we took Game 3 against Celtics with 1-2 deficit.

Game 1 (June 5) - We watched the first game at are usual hangout, Lulu's. They have the best baby back ribs so I had that and of course Cosmo! We started watching at this restaurant/sports bar during the Western Conference Finals against Spurs and we're lucky until Game 1 with Celtics. The lost was really heartbreaking. Here's Sherwin's analysis on why we lost Game 1. It's really funny =P

Contributing factors for the laker lost:
1. Alan didn't wear my lucky jersey
2. Darwin & Mitzi didn't wear their lucky jersey
3. Eric actually join in to watch
4. Lakers had too much time off
5. F'ckng Pierce is a DRAMA QUEEN - "heard my knee pop - my knee pop - i thought that was it"

Reason# 1 & 2 - We wore the Lakers jersey 3 consecutive times and not in Game# 1

Reason# 5 - Paul Pierce can't wait to go to Hollywood =P

Fave quote from Eric:
"How much do you want?" - screaming at the referee (on TV) because the calls are all off =P

Game 2 (June 8) - Since it's lazy Sunday, we decided to watch the game at the Kambals. This time, we wore our "lucky" jersey hoping that we'll give some luck to our team. We ordered pizza and tacos for dinner. The first half was Ok coz Lakers has the momentum. But when the 4th quarter started, I was about to give up an leave because Celtics led 20 effin' points! There were a lot calls that are off so we were all cursing the referee. Gasol and Odom's shots were off too.. they just can't make any offensive play, until the very last 2 minutes when Kobe and Radmanovic made all the shots and the lead went down to 4 points. We're all screaming and jumping for joy.

But... it was not enough, we still lost. We almost made it but there's not enough time to win the game. =(

Game 3 (June 10) - The Lakers are back in LA. This is a MUST win for them because No team in NBA playoff history has ever overcome an 0-3 deficit. We decided to watch the game at home and just bought fried chicken, beer and chips. I was expecting that the lead will go over 20 points since they're playing in LA, but they're having a hard time shooting the ball. Only Kobe and Vujacic made most of the points. I was expecting more. But anyways, it's good that we won! Game 4 is this Thursday!

Game 5... here we come! We'll cheer for LA at the Staples Center this Sunday. Woohoo!

LA Lakers vs Atlanta Hawks @ Staples Center

After playing "away games" for 3 weeks... The boys are back! We won an easy victory with the Hawks (122-93 points) last night, and since the score of the opponent is below 99 points, we got FREE tacos at Taco Bell. All fans gave a warm welcome to Pau Gasol and I noticed that Kobe is really happy with his team winning 5 straight games.

I watched the Lakers vs Suns game on TV earlier. It's the first time Shaq plays for the Suns after the trade.. Lakers won again! Our TEAM is unbeatable! I hope it continues until the playoffs!

Before the month ends...

Last night, I watched "Dont Give Up On Us" by Judy Ann and Piolo Pascual. It's a feel good movie. I cried twice =( I felt her heartaches, but it has a good ending. Anyways, this is a busy month for me since my mom stayed for two weeks. Here's a quick rundown on what happened.

Hollywood and Highland
Mom arrived in LA on March 1 with AJ and Kheem. We went to church for ash wednesday then we had dinner at Pink's Hotdog. Afterwards, we hang-out at Hollywood and Highland and had coffee at Starbucks. We watched Gulong ng Palad thru Slingbox (it's a new found technology by Darwin). It's connected at his Tivo so I can watch the pre-recorded and live shows remotely.. Cool huh!!

I had their famous Chili (pronounced "Chee-chee" by the cook) Hotdog

I also got my new cellphone. It's a Motorola Pink Razr V3. I know, I'm a NOKIA user and I was NEVER a flip phone fan, but while I was reading the reviews, the specs, its features and the *pink* COLOR (they only had it in gray before), I never had second thoughts of getting it. I ordered the car charger and USB modem in ebay. I can now transfer pictures to and from my cellphone and create ring tones (my fave are Stickwitu, You're Beautiful, Pon de Replay)

The Getty Musuem
We had lunch at Versailles then we headed to the Getty. I've been wanting to go there since I always see it along 405. There's no entrance fee, all you have to pay is the parking fee. If you decide to go there by bus, you dont need to pay anything!!! And I wonder, how do they maintain the musuem if they don't charge anything? His collection was just magnificent. What I really want to see is the Irises by Van Gough (note the sole white iris amongst the common blue irises). Besides the art, it's an architectural marvel too. The panoramic view of Los Angeles is amazing from the Getty. I'd love to stay longer but we have to do other things.

Shopping, donation, errands, dvds
I got sick but that didn't stop me from showing mom around =P We went to Westside Pavilion on March 7 coz she wants to buy something at Victoria Secret and Guess. We met up with Darwin since he's around the area and we had dinner. March 11, we had breakfast at iHop, then went to Goodwill donation center to drop-off some of my old things. We went to Target afterwards to buy a sweat suit for mom. Darwin stopped by for awhile then we watched DVDs: Perfect Man, Pride and Prejudice, Walk the Line. March 12, we went to Century Mall and we both got new purses. Actually, I don't want to buy a purse but when we saw this Coach scribbled hobo bag, I fell in love with it. Since I bought it, there will be ZERO gimik for me. =P Mom took the Banana Republic leather bag that's coming out this Fall. That night, we went to hear mass with Darwin then we had dinner at Max's.

Lakers game
Before the game, mom was with AJ since he's visiting. They went to Ashes and Snow gallery at Santa Monica. They said it's good so I might check it out too. After work, I met them at my apartment then we went to Staples Center. Mom was so excited since this will be the first time she'll see the Lakers play. It was a good game since we WON against Timberwolves!!!

Ocho's Back!

Yeah.. "Ocho" is Kobe. He was injured for a long time and now he's back!!!

I watched the Lakers game last Tuesday at Staples Center with Darwin. He invited me to go with him coz he got 2 tickets for the game. We decided to just meet at Staples coz I'll be coming from work and he'll be coming from the valley. I took the side street to avoid traffic but Venice is jam-packed too..I'm not familiar with the street names going to downtown so I checked the map. I look silly coz the map is really BIG and I kept on flipping it. I even made a stop just to make sure I havn't passed Union St. Finally, I reached Staples Center at 7ish. I met Darwin near the parking area and he told me to bring the camera. But it's not allowed to bring it in, so we strategically hide the camera in my purse.. =P As we enter the main gate of staples, the bag checker took my bag and she didn't notice my camera. We made it! both of us laughed =P

The game started at 740pm. The first 3 quarters isn't good coz they're loosing, but when Kobe threw those amazing shots, I cant help but jump and scream.. I really love this game.. He made 40points. Caron is good too. Lakers is not the same team I saw last year when they played against Golden State Warriors.. maybe because Shaq's not here anymore.. another thing is nobody REBOUNDS.. there's always no follow up... I hope we can atleast go to the playoffs.. Oh, and the All Star Game is coming this Sunday, cant wait to see Shaq and Kobe play..

I juz love this shot

Aren't we sweet? hmmmmm...

The Staples Center

Last night, I'm supposed to do my laundry but got too lazy to do it so I just relaxed and watched American Idol. I like the farm girl and the one who looks like Milli Vanilli. After AI, I had my dinner while watching Seinfeld. On one of the EPs (The Letter), I saw Kramer's portrait. It's exactly the one that's hanged at Stinking Rose's waiting area when I had dinner there.. There's only one episode left for the 3rd season that I havn't seen, cant wait for next DVD release of Seinfeld.
