Velvet Margarita

Last Saturday, I went out with Mads, Ollie and Jon at La Velvet Margarita Cantina in Hollywood. They picked me up from my place at 930ish and decided to just go together and use one car. We tried to look for metered parking in West Hollywood but it's hard to find one so we took the valet parking. The bouncer checked my ID and asked how to pronounce my name and he says it's very unique.. Mads whispered and told me he's cute and we havn't got inside the club and yet he's already flirting. hahaha The interior is very Quentin Tarantino-esque (I agree with the reviews I read) and booths are in red velvet. Our table isn't ready when we got in so we decided to stay at the bar and order drinks. We had their famous Velvet margarita. While waiting, there's this guy who asked Jon if it's ok to talk to me. I dont know what he said but the guy just smiled. Maybe Jon told him that I have a bf already or something. =P After a few minutes, we got our seat. The margarita we had is delicious, it's one of the kind and it's in this big pineapple. I think it's equivalent to 3 glasses.. We talked about a lot of things about life and Mads new boylet.. She met him last week at this weeding and I think they're hitting it off. Mads is so open with her love life and we cant help but listen.. hehehe He's a good catch actually coz he finished his degree at UCLA, very religious and works as a special Ed teacher. hmm... Here's our pictures..

Mads, me, and Ollie

Jon, Mads, me, and Ollie

We drove down Sunset Boulevard to check Miyagi's and other clubs and we saw this car being towed near Saddle Ranch. Oh noh!! at this time (1am) ?? Mad's boylet called her and he wants to meet up with her. We decided to accompany Mads and watch Constantine (bootleg dvd) at her new apartment in Alhambra. But we need to go to Ollie's place first to get her bootleg DVDs. Instead of going back to West Hollywood, we went all the way down to Santa Monica and we got lost.. The three of us cant help but laugh coz we dont know where we're going and Jon is not familiar with the place too.. He's like telling us.."Are you guys high??".. I think it's because of the margarita... Finally, we reached Ollie's place and got the dvds while Mads went ahead to meet her boylet.

At Mads apartment, we watched the bootleg movie at her laptop and I can't hear anything. Good thing that Ollie already saw Constantine and I'd ask her every time I didnt get something.. ** SPOILER ** There's this one scene wherein the girl that's being exorcised said.. "Papatayin kita.." =P I didnt catch it coz Im really sleepy at that time but all of them heard it. I'll watch this movie again. After the movie, we decided to take a nap then we'll call it a night but when I woke up... it's already 8am.. We had breakfast at McDo and left Alhambra at 9ish.

Filet-O-Fish

It is Friday so I need to abstain. I just had Mickey Dees (aka McDo) filet-o-fish and french fries. I volunteered to go there since everyone's busy (except me). Initially, I told Archie if he can buy me lunch but he told me he still have a lot of pending jobs since yesterday, then Brack and Janet overheard us talking so they gave me $1 each for the filet-o-fish. When I got back, one of my co-workers got upset when she found out that I went to McDo. She's saying that it's unfair for us (Filipinos) not to ask her what she wants from Mickey Dees coz we're the only one who understands our language HAHAHA We can't stop laughing.. she's really something.. =P I offered my french fries but then after a few minutes of complaining, she got one of Archie's filet-o-fish since he ordered 3.

Go shorty, it's your Birthday..

Yeah, It was Darwin's birthday yesterday and we had dinner last night at La Paella in Beverly Hills. It's a nice and cozy restaurant. Spanish music is played while we're eating, it's very romantic. We had Champinones con Chorizo (mushroom with spanish sausage) and Manchego con Memrillo (Spanish sheep cheese topped with quince paste) for appetizers, Paella Valenciana Mixta and Sangria. We had silent moments and we're left with nothing to talk about... then we laughed.. Imagine chatting everyday, talking on the phone every night and hanging out on weekends.. =P But we had a great time (i think) It's fun to try something new.. After dinner, we headed to 3rd St Promenade to walk. Almost all the stores are closed since it's already 9pm. We can't help but notice the new deli that looks like the one in New York. It's bigger though...On our way home, we bought pizza at Stefano's. They sell New York style pizza by the slice.. WE just can't forget the experience we had in New York.. It just keeps on coming back..

When we got home, I made an imaginary cake for him to blow so he can make a wish but he told me that he already blew his cake earlier.. KJ!!! =P I felt bad but it's ok, as long as he's happy, I'm happy.

Yesterday, my co-worker made a compliment on my jeans. She said all of my jeans looks good at me... (syemps).. she told me it's hard to find a nice pair of jeans to emphasize ones assets.. Naks, maniniwala ba ako? =P Well, she has a nice body (for her age) and I see her wearing Seven, i think she has 3 pairs of that.. I asked her what keeps her fit.. she just smiled. I went shopping after work for pasalubong... I got mom a purse and towels for her new bathroom, a cute baby shirt for my sis and socks for my brothers. I asked Chris a favor 2 weeks ago if he still has space on his baggage since he's going back to the PI. He said it's ok and he'll just meet up with my brother once he arrives in Manila. I'll be sending Abbie's Before Sunrise dvd too, so Abs you'll get it soon na ;)

Razzle... Dazzle...

Oh, I'm soooo "addicted" to Chicago... Yesterday, I have completed downloading the OST of the movie (thanks to BearShare), I listened to it all day and I have memorized the lyrics.. My faves are Funny Honey and Cell Block Tango. It didn't stop there.. I watched the DVD last night. I'm really hooked to it. What's the reason behind all of these???? well....

Last Sunday, I saw Chicago at Pantages theatre. It's their last show and good thing that Darwin got tickets for this musical. He has invited me a couple of days ago but I refused to go coz I already saw the movie and watching a musical is way too expensive. Then on Friday, he asked me again if Im interested coz he already made some arrangements with this guy from Long Beach and he's selling 2 tix at a discounted price. It sounds good, so I said yes.. not knowing that he has also invited someone else. I got upset and I almost gave up my tickets and said just bring whoever he wants to. Maybe he thought that I dont appreciate watching musical plays coz I refused the first time he invited me.. Then he told me he'll create a reality show for anyone who wants to win the Chicago tickets. All you have to do is give him a convincing reason why you really want to go and whats it worth to you... Here's my answer (we were chatting at AIM.. as usual):

mitzi (11:54:11 AM): it's worth my LIFE
mitzi (11:54:17 AM): oh!! ano say mo? hehehe
darwin (11:54:24 AM): nyek...
darwin (11:54:27 AM): prove it
darwin (11:54:32 AM): what will u do for it???
darwin (11:54:44 AM): cook for me?
mitzi (11:54:54 AM): hmmm... il clean ur bathroom
darwin (11:54:56 AM): ako i soo want it, that i will travel to long beach to get it
mitzi (11:55:09 AM): il clean ur WHOLE apartment
mitzi (11:55:20 AM): it needs to be cleaned dear.. dme alikabok
mitzi (11:55:25 AM): wash ur clothes
mitzi (11:55:56 AM): ill be ur servant for ONE WHOLE DAY.. hehehe

AND I WON IT!!!.. hehehe ofcourse, im the only contestant..=P

Back to the show.. it's the best musical I've seen (so far) I can't help but compare it with Miss Saigon, Joseph the Dreamer and Wonderful Town. I know I've only seen a few musical shows coz it's not something that I'd do every weekend.. I'd still prefer to watch movies coz it's cheaper.. but I just love watching musical plays, it's entertaing and the show is just fabulous! It's way better than the movie because it's LIVE and you get instant reaction from the audience.. The musical number that I like is "Cell Block Tango"... great choreography and you'd see how strong women are.. love it!!! The heart of the show is Amos when he did "Mr. Cellophane" at Act 2. I kept on telling Darwin that this is the part I'm really waiting for... and Amos did it.. he made a connection with the crowd and we were left in awe. "I hope I didn't take much of your time".. =P Patti Labelle is great too.. she played Mama Morton. she's a true DIVA!! Darwin made a great review of the show at his blog.. He's a better writer than me.. =P go check it out..

You know you're from LA when....

While I was driving to work, The topic at KIIS is "You know you're from LA when...." and I cant help but laugh at some of it coz it's ACTUALLY true... here's an excerpt from Blogthings which I think Ryan Seacrest and Ellen K googled. All along, I thought it's their own ideas but it's not.. hmm.. isn't that cheating? =P

- You begin to "lie" to your friends about where you are i.e. "Yeah I'm like 20 minutes away", when you know that it'll take you at least an hour to get there. (I usually do this, I'm good in making excuses and "white" lies, but they always caught me... so I guess im no expert...)

- the pizza delivery guy also has a contract with WB.. (YEAH, most of them are good looking)

- peeps in the club have "butter face" (EEEwww.. I only went out clubbing 3x and I know it's not my thing..)

- A car chase will interrupt the TV show you're watching

- If your destination is more than 5 minutes away on foot, you're definitely driving. (Sometimes)

- Your car insurance costs as much as your house payment or apartment rent

- The gym is packed at 3 pm ... on a work day

- You're sitting in traffic for at least an hour at any given part of the day (This is pretty normal for me..I'm immune to it.. take 405 and you'll see...)

- You eat pineapple on pizza. (I LOVE THIS TOO, and my co-workers tell me I'm weird ...)

- You think that Venice is a beach. (Not anymore.. coz I live in Motor and Venice)

- You drive next to a Rolls Royce and don't notice. (It looks pretty normal for me and I've seen a lot better than that... like a few walk from my place is a Ferrari service center)

- You know that if you drive two miles in any direction you will find a McDonald's or a Starbucks (YEAH... but when you go to the valley, it's hard to find Starbucks)

- You know that not everyone in Beverly Hills is a millionaire. (but my boss is...)

- You go to the beach and see that real lifeguards actually do look like the lifeguards from Baywatch

- You classify new people you meet by their Area Code. An "818" would never date a "562" and anyone from "323" or "213" is ghetto/second class. Best area code: "310." (So I guess I am.. hehehe)

Going Crazy
by Natalie

Ever since the day you went away
and left me lonely and cold
my life just hasn't been the same
oh baby no
when i looked into your eyes
the moment that i let you go i just broke down

baby if i ever get the chance to be with you again
I would sacrifice
Cuz the feelin that I feel within no other man would ever make me feel so right
its nice to smile when i get your phone call at night
But I rather have you here with me
right next to me
and I miss the way you hold me tight

I've got to let you know I feel so weak without your touch
I never thought that i could ever love a man so much
I've gotta let you know I think that we are destiny
For you I'd cross the world for you
I'd do anything

That's right baby
Im goin crazy
I need to be your lady
I been thinkin lately
that you and me yes we can make it
just ride with me roll with me
Im in love with you (baby)

Thats right baby
Im goin crazy
I need to be your lady
I been thinkin lately
that you and me yes we can make it

from the moment that i met you its been so damn real
my heart seems to skip another beat every time we speak
Can't belive I feel so weak
tell me that you really need me
and you want me
and you miss me
and you love me
I'm your lady
I'll be around waitin for you
put it down be the woman for you
im fallin so deep for you
crazy over you im callin
callin out to you
what am i gonna do?
its true no frontin
it's u ain't no other
I can no longer go on without you
I just break down (down)

I've got to let you know I feel so weak without your touch

Ocho's Back!

Yeah.. "Ocho" is Kobe. He was injured for a long time and now he's back!!!

I watched the Lakers game last Tuesday at Staples Center with Darwin. He invited me to go with him coz he got 2 tickets for the game. We decided to just meet at Staples coz I'll be coming from work and he'll be coming from the valley. I took the side street to avoid traffic but Venice is jam-packed too..I'm not familiar with the street names going to downtown so I checked the map. I look silly coz the map is really BIG and I kept on flipping it. I even made a stop just to make sure I havn't passed Union St. Finally, I reached Staples Center at 7ish. I met Darwin near the parking area and he told me to bring the camera. But it's not allowed to bring it in, so we strategically hide the camera in my purse.. =P As we enter the main gate of staples, the bag checker took my bag and she didn't notice my camera. We made it! both of us laughed =P

The game started at 740pm. The first 3 quarters isn't good coz they're loosing, but when Kobe threw those amazing shots, I cant help but jump and scream.. I really love this game.. He made 40points. Caron is good too. Lakers is not the same team I saw last year when they played against Golden State Warriors.. maybe because Shaq's not here anymore.. another thing is nobody REBOUNDS.. there's always no follow up... I hope we can atleast go to the playoffs.. Oh, and the All Star Game is coming this Sunday, cant wait to see Shaq and Kobe play..

I juz love this shot

Aren't we sweet? hmmmmm...

The Staples Center

Last night, I'm supposed to do my laundry but got too lazy to do it so I just relaxed and watched American Idol. I like the farm girl and the one who looks like Milli Vanilli. After AI, I had my dinner while watching Seinfeld. On one of the EPs (The Letter), I saw Kramer's portrait. It's exactly the one that's hanged at Stinking Rose's waiting area when I had dinner there.. There's only one episode left for the 3rd season that I havn't seen, cant wait for next DVD release of Seinfeld.

My Valentine Date...

Darwin and I exchanged eCards, he gave me long stem rose, we went out for dinner and we watched a movie. It looks normal but it's not... We were sweet and we look nice together last night but there's still this uncertainty... I know I still love him, I really do.. We decided to give each other space and time to be apart but both of us are weak. We miss each other, he calls me, i call him, we chat everyday.. we just cant get enough of each other.

Yesterday, as I was exchanging IMs with Darwin, he told me that he fainted at work and he was sent home to rest. I called him at once and I told him that I'll go to the valley to meet him. Im worried on what might happen to him and I can never forgive myself if something goes wrong if he drives to my place. I left work early so I can still have time to get some of my things from my apartment then go to the valley. As I opened the door of my apartment, I saw a duffle bag which I know is not mine, then I turned on the light and there he is.. Darwin surprised me again and I gave him a big-tight hug.. I cry everytime he surprise me, and he said... "Ayaw mo ata eh.." then I said.. "Tears of joy yan noh!!" =P We both laughed..

We rest for awhile then after a few minutes, I changed my outfit and we headed to Downtown Culver. There's no restaurant that's appealing to us so we went to The Promenade at Howard Hughes Center. We had dinner at Wild Thai Restaurant and the food was great. We pigged-out and we almost can't stand up from our seat (I'm not exaggerating) hehehe.

After dinner, we watched Wedding Date at The Bridge. And the line that struck me was this..

"Every woman has the exact love life she wants," Nick (Dermot Mulroney) believes, according to the Times magazine article. "It's not about the sex," he says, "it's about what people need." And what does Kat (Debra Messing) need? Nick says he heard something in her voice on the phone. "Desperation?" she asks. "I think it was hope," he says.

Down, boy! The movie was slow and I almost slept while watching it (maybe it's because it's already late).. but overall, it's ok.

It's a lovely night.

Happy V-day!

Love is not about "it's your fault", but "I'm sorry."
Not "where are you", but "I'm right here"
Not "how could you", but "I understand"
Not "I wish you were", but "I'm thankful you are"

I was really sick last night. I have muscle pain going on and sore throat and I cant sleep. I drank 2 tablets of tylenol but it's not enough so I asked Darwin if he can get me Theraflu coz i need something that tastes like lemon. After a few minutes, I'm ok and finally slept at 2am. I was thinking of calling sick today but I already had it 2 weeks ago so I have no choice but to go to work. Jill called me this morning and we exchange valentine greetings.. I was driving to work that's why I cant talk to her that long.. she asked for my home address to mail the brochure from her mom. She invited me to join her on a Caribbean cruise.. hmm let's see if I can squeeze it in this year and if I have enough money.. I might not afford it.. =P

Last Friday, we had despedida party for Chris at Obi's place coz he's leaving on March. Ida (Obi's wife) cooked shrimp pasta and tilapia for dinner and we had sisig and lechon kawali as "pulutan" with Miller High Life and Bud Light. It's the first Friday of lent and Obi told us he can only eat meat when 12MN strikes. It's been his "panata" since he was a kid and his wife might get upset if he was caught eating meat.. And so he waited. But around 10ish, he sneaked and ate lechon kawali coz he can't help it anymore.. =P We talked a lot of stuff about life here in America and issues with our co-workers who didn't join us.. hmmm and I wonder, what did they talk about when I left.. =P I took off at around 12ish coz I'm already sleepy. On my way home, a police car is right beside me when I hit Nordoff and Sepulveda. I was nervous and drove at 30mph. You know the feeling when authority is there and you get conscious on every move you make... That's exactly what I felt. I always check my odomoter and was really careful. I dont want to pass him coz he might caught me for overspeeding, then he'll discover that I'm drunk too.. Im not really that tipsy but he might smell alcohol when I talk. I survived til I get home. =P Here are our pictures...

Me, Beth, Archie, Eric, and Chris

Last Saturday, I went to BBG (Burbank Bar & Grille) with my college friends. It's supposed to be a girls night out but turned out to a welcome home party for Jon who just arrived from Iraq last Friday. He was assigned in Iraq 6mos ago and he told us his experience there.. It's scary and crazy.. We had dinner and I ordered chicken with mushroom. Mads friend from Shuttlecockers came and he's too "mahangin" for me. Then we found out he also graduated from La Salle with Mechanical Engineering major. hhmm.. that explains everything.. =P Finally, Tins arrived with her bf and we ordered drinks. I had strawberry margarita and Long Island Iced Tea. The band started playing at around 10ish and they played 80s songs.. it's nice and I cant help but remember the time Darwin took me there 2 years ago coz it's the same band. Ollie, Mads and I danced with the guys during intermissions. When we went back to our table to rest, there's this tipsy lady who spilled her drinks to Ollie's tops. When I checked my wool coat, it's has stain on it too. Oh shit!!!! I went straight to the rest room and cleaned it. I was really upset coz I cant remove everything. One of girls adviced me to use Club soda to remove the stain. It helped alot but I'll still bring it to the dry cleaner... We had coffee at Denny's and I got home at 3ish.

At BBG with (L-R) Jon, Ollie, Mads and Tins

Sunday, I just stayed home and watch DVDs. Darwin and I went to chuch to hear mass at 6ish then we had grocery for dinner instead of eating out. He cooked tocino with egg. yummy!!! It's nice to just relax and be with someone you're comfortable with. I feel safe..

Flaker?!...

I just got home from work. I'm really tired coz I did multitasking again.. setup our new colored laserjet printer (woohoo!!! i can get a chance to sneak in and print neat stuff like what I usually do at Ford), did tech support with Cisco customers, reply to my correspondents' emails, and did some sales. Everyone has to do multitasking since 3 of my coworkers were absent... Dang!!! Anyway, we had siesta again while our president is out for lunch. The manager who replaced my boss is not that stict so we can do whatever we want... We planned the despedida party for Chris who's leaving this March. He'll take crash courses at Pinas for IT certification for a couple of months then he'll return once he's done. It's a good move actually since taking classes here is very expensive. We just chip-in for food and drinks so Obi can take care of the rest. I havn't been to his place yet and his teasing me that I might flake out again like that time he invited me to his daughter's bday and the trip to Vegas. Well I have my reason that time but now I'm totally free. Rustom Padilla might go there too but it's no biggie... bading naman yun eh... hehehe Rustom's gonna move to Obi's condo and Obi will move to a new place next month... So there's a slight chance we'd see Rustom since accdg to Obi he seldom hangs out there...

Last night, I went to church to attend mass and get my ash. I didn't know that the evening mass is in Spanish. I dont have a clue on what the priest is saying so I just read the English missalette and did the Perpetual Help novena. =P I went home after mass and watched American Idol. It's a group competition and those who qualify will go to the next round. It's still being judged individually but there's this one group that totally forgot the lyrics but still ALL three of them got in.. weird huh.. the judges excuse is that they were good the other day and they're giving them a chance.. for me.. they are unprepared and took a risk of singing something they dont really know.. so they should be eliminated..

*I did something crazy last night... I think when you're stomach is empty, you'd do anything that's illogical...

The power of three..

Last Friday, I'm supposed to watch "Sideways" but decided to just stay home and watch "Ray". It's a long movie and Jaime Foxx deserves an Oscar nomination.. I think he'll win coz he's really good. Saturday, I had a blood exam at Facey then I picked up my pants that I had altered. I can't help but compare the alteration cost in the PI coz here it's $7 while in "Tabas" (my suki in Cabuyao) it would only cost me PhP 100 or less. I met Jill for late lunch and we went to Max's at Glendale.. It's been a long time since both of us havn't been there. We had their famous chix and calamares for appetizer. There were lots of things to catch up with Jill and we stayed like more than an hour at Max's.. =P We were friends since I got here so it's almost 2yrs.. We had our ice cream and we decided to go shopping.. of course, we need to burn those fats =) I enjoy shopping with Jill coz we have the same taste and she confessed to me that she's into GREENs too (like me.. it's my fave color!!) We went to Nine West and we saw this really cute green wedge but it's too expensive for me.. so I never bought it.. I'll just wait when it goes on SALE. We had fun choosing the right pair of sunglasses at ALDO and we bought the same style and it's cute.. There's a new store called Ligali and we cant help but check it out.. They have cute tops for clubbing and nice pair of jeans but I dont feel like buying it yet.. I chose the halter top for Jill and it really looks nice on her.. It's only 15 bucks!!! almost 50% off from its original price.. good buy huh!!! We left the mall at 6ish and went to Goldilocks coz Im craving for halo-halo... Got home at 7ish and watched "Girl with a Pearl Earring" then I craved for tacos and went out to buy an 85 cents pork taco... yummy!!! Sunday, went to Jiffy Lube for oil change, watched NFL while eating KFC for lunch (but I slept on it), watched the first 4 EPs of Charmed (thanks Darwin for buying it..) and I missed mass coz Im not feeling well...

Shopaholic (again)?!?!

Last night, I went to Massage Garage to schedule an appointment for Swedish massage next week. I saw their ad in Vogue magazine and got curious about it so I checked out the place. It's nice and cozy and it's only 5minutes from my apartment.. It's tax month again so I decided to go to Palms library to get some tax forms.. but they dont have it.. The librarian told me to go to the city library at Overland and Jefferson.. I don't know that there's a library there.. hehehe That's my daily commute and I dont even see it.. It's about time I get to know the city where I live in... I looked for some book that will interest me on their online catalog and searched for "Confessions of a Shopaholic" but it's out so I just borrowed "Can you keep a secret" from the same author. Let's see if this is a good read..

Im really tired but it's too early to go home.. I dont wanna get stuck at home, so I decided to go to Westside Pavilion. While I was talking to Jill about our plan this weekend.. I told her I was looking for a Puma sneaker and Im having a hard time looking for something I like at Foot Locker, Finish line, etc.. She told me to check out Nordstrom and after we hang up, I went to Norstrom.. and there it is.. the Puma sneakers that I WANT.. (Should I stop shopping??) I just bought a pair of wedge slide at Cathy Jeans. =P

Puma 'Bashy' Athletic Shoe: the color/pattern that I chose is saffron and yellow.
