Since U Been Gone.. go figure out!!!

* I really feel this song... Darwin and I just broke up. I'm single again... Is there something called a not-so-normal breakup.. Can ex be friends again??!!

Since U Been Gone
by Kelly Clarkson

Here's the thing
We started out friends
It was cool, but it was all pretend
Yeah, yeah, since you been gone
You dedicated, you took the time
Wasn't long till I called you mine
Yeah, yeah, since you been gone
And all you'd ever hear me say
Is how I picture me with you
That's all you'd ever hear me say

But since you been gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so movin' on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you, now I get what I want
Since you been gone

How can I put it, you put me on
I even fell for that stupid love song
Yeah, yeah, since you been gone
How come I'd never hear you say
I just wanna be with you
Guess you never felt that way

But since you been gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so movin' on, yeah, yeah
Thanks to you, now I get, I get what I want
Since you been gone

You had your chance, you blew it
Out of sight, out of mind
Shut your mouth, I just can't take it
Again and again and again and again

Since you been gone (since you been gone)
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so movin' on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you (thanks to you)
Now I get, I get what I want
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so movin' on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you (thanks to you)
Now I get (I get)
You should know (you should know) that I get
I get what I want

Since you been gone
Since you been gone
Since you been gone

Totally Lost

Have u ever had sleepless nights coz you keep thinking about things that bother you and you feel like you wanna explode. That you wish you're on a different world where everything seems right and perfect. I did, not just once but a lot of times.. In reality, nothing's perfect and I get to face a lot of trials as I grow old. Right now, I'm lost. I don't know where I'm going... this isn't me.. I usually have everything planned out.. I'm not the spontaneous type of person that lets fate show what's best for me.. I'm a goal oriented person.. I've set my goals from the day I decided to live on my own and become independent.. But now, I dont know where Im going.

You might think that living in the US is easy and ok.. It's hard too.. I miss my family and friends that I grew up with, my home, my room, my bed... I never thought it's gonna be this hard.. Sometimes I just wanna quit.. Leave everything behind and go back home... But I can't, I know I have to fulfill something and I'm almost there.. Thanks to my friends who keep me sane.. there are friends that I constantly talk on the phone (Jill and Mads-our calls lasts for more than an hour), friends that I chat with (Forces girls, east-coast-based buddies), activity partners (Mads, Ollie, John and Tins - can't wait for our kayaking and skydiving plan-sana matuloy..LOL) and a friend that I regularly hangout with that's really close to my heart (sweets).

There are times when I tend to BEG for attention (kasi KSP talga ako.. hehehe) coz I wanna feel that I exist... or sometimes I'm as quiet as a puppy coz I dont wanna talk about anything.. I'm a complicated friend.. a moody one.. Some just wanna give up, some can calm me down and some can really test my patience.. I dont want to be ignored.. small things can cheer me up.. I'm so mababaw.. you can make me laugh and cry easily.. without making any effort..

I dont know if this post makes any sense to you. I just wanna vent out what I feel.. I limit my posts to happy-exciting-lovely experiences coz I dont want anyone worry about me or feel sorry for me..

My Movie List

I'm a self proclaimed movie addict.. These are the movies I've seen at theatres here in the US. Watching movies here is very expensive so blockbuster rental would really save a lot of bucks for me/us..

May 2003
17 - Matrix Reloaded
:: I watched the matinee movie with my mom, Tita Connie and Maricar at San Francisco. It's a blast.. it's a one of a kind movie that relates technology with humans. I enjoyed watching this movie.. I discussed it with Maricar on our way home.

Jun
7 - The Italian Job
:: I watched this movie at 3rd Street Promenade with Jill and Meng when they're still going out. Jill became my best bud since then. She's so nice to me and I just love her. I love shopping with her.

21 - The Hulk
:: I spent my weekend at Bakersfield and my cousins invited me to watch this movie.. It's a boring movie, I almost slept. But when I got home, I got an unexpected IM from someone.. I like his sense of humor. At that moment, I thought that we'll hang out more often..

Aug
1 - Gigli
:: One of the movies that really sucks!!! Even if Ben is really cute and all, his acting sucks. This is the time when I said to myself, not to watch any Ben movies ever.. It's the first movie I watched with Darwin after we had our first date at Barrio Fiesta.

8 - American Wedding
:: The 3rd installment of American Pie is hilarious. I laughed non-stop.

10 - Finding Nemo
:: Nemo was first released last May 2003 but I didnt have a chance to see it at that time. I love this movie.. I cried. A week after watching this flick, we went to Aquarium of the Pacific (Aug 16) and Nemo is the famous fish there.. hehehe

15 - S.W.A.T.
:: I only watched this movie because of LL Cool J's nice bud!!!

Sep
5 - Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde
:: It's one of the old movies played in this theatre that looks spooky. I just love watching movies that shows how sexy and powerful woman can be.

Oct
25 - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
:: I watched this movie with my cousins in Bakersfield. It's an ok movie. I had a problem sleeping coz I cant stop thinking of that man with the chainsaw.

Nov
5 - The Matrix Revolution
:: We watched this on its premier night at 11pm even though we still have work the next day. My expectation was really high since I really like their 2nd installment and the trailer is really awesome but they failed me. Parang minadali yun movie

Dec
6 - The Last Samurai
:: An epic movie that depicts the beginnings of the modernization of Japan.

22 - Lord of the Rings 3
:: I dunno but I almost slept when I watched this movie

Jan 2004
2 - Something's Gotta Give
:: A love story between two older people has much more room to display the richness of soulmate types of love, and not just the exterior eye-candy of more traditional love romances. It's a feel good movie and I enjoyed watching it

23 - Along Came Polly
:: There are a lot of scenes that's really gross esp. the one at the basketball court with that sweaty guy... EEEeeewwww!!

Mar
7 - Passion of the Christ
:: This movie really touched my heart. Scenes are so graphic and that made me cry... twice. You'll surely repent your sins after you watch this movie.

Apr
25 - Man on Fire
:: After the heart-warming beginning of a suicidal man finding new meaning to life through a new young friend, the abrupt kidnapping will have you furious. This roller coaster of emotion and surprise ending act of selflessness will have you leaving the theater in silence. I know I did!

May
28 - Shrek 2
:: I didn't see Shrek 1 last 2001 so I have to rent the 1st movie before watching it's sequel. It starts kind of slow, but as soon as Puss in Boots enters the picture it takes off. I liked the first film, but I think this one was just a little bit better.

Walk.. talk.. reminisce

DVDs kept pouring in.. Darwin just signed-up at blockbuster.com for DVD rentals. We used it for a free month trial but since we got hooked into it, he continued its service. We can rent 3 DVDs at a time with no late fees. They send the DVD's thru mail with prepaid return envelopes. Once we're done with the movie, we just have to mail it back and a new one will be on its way. It's hassle free!!! The only downside of online rental is I don't get the movie I want in an instant..I noticed that there's a wait time of 2days before it gets shipped.. Last weekend, we watched Without a Paddle and Troy. Now there's a lot of reason to just stay home..

Last Saturday, we went to Northridge mall to go shopping. I bought tops at Gap and I didn't spend any cent since I used the Amex gift card from my boss and the GAP gift card from Sher and Jannie. I went to Body Shop afterwards to look for the Lip & Cheek stain that I bought 3 years ago (Aileen & Charo, remember when we did our shopping for Ajie's wedding). I dropped the one that I had before and it broke into pieces coz it's made out of glass tube. I asked the saleslady if they still sell that item, she showed me a tube that's made of plastic. It's a different packaging but it's still the same. I bought it and was so happy that I finally have it again.. and this time, it wont break anymore.. good thinking Body shop.. hehehe.. I miss the metal ball though that gives me a weird feeling everytime I apply it on my cheeks. That night, we had Hypnotiq.. it's a drink I bought 2 weeks ago at Costco. I dont like the taste though, it's strong.. you need to add a lot of ice to like it.

Yesterday, we went to hear mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels. It's a newly built cathedral in downtown LA and it's where Lea Salonga got married. The interior is modern and it's really big but I still like old-style churches with big altars, stained glass windows and wooden ceilings with carvings.. We met Dinah and her family after the mass and said our hi and hellos then we left. We went to Philippe for brunch and we had their famous French dip sandwich. The resto is in a secret place and we wouldn't know about it if Darwin didn't see it from the Food Network. I think we should do it more often, you know... like food tripping... trying different kinds of food.. It's fun. we decided to go to "The Grove" since it's too early to home. we just walked and talked and reminisced.. such a lovely day..

We watched the last season of Sex and the City and finally.. we completed it.. I'm gonna post a separate review for that one.. so watch out for it..The last disk includes 3 alternative endings for it's Finale and interviews with the cast.. A lot of insights and Manolo Blahnik!!! Oh, those shoes.. I just love looking at those shoes and Im not gonna buy it.. it's very impractical, imagine a pair worth $400.. I enjoyed the show so much and I'm definitely gonna miss them..

What are the things (WE) miss in NY??

1) pizza...
It's the best pizza I've ever had.. tasty, big slices, thin-crust and it has a lot of toppings!! Since we got home from our trip, Darwin and I are always looking for NY style pizza in the valley.. We tried Greco's and Fratelli's but it's nothing compared to the authentic NY pizza.

2) hustle n bustle of people
Oh, everyone's in a hurry.. I don't really like walking but it's a MUST here..You need to walk fast so you'd reach your destination or get to the subway on time. You'll also identify which are the tourists because they walk really slow, looking up to see how great the architecture is.. and I'm one of them.. "slow walkers" (if there's such a term.. hehehe) That's why in SATC they say.. "Let's walk".. Here in LA you can't do that!!! In New York one mile is equivalent to 20 blocks but here in LA that's only 5 blocks. You do the math.. =)

It's also OK to cross ped xing even it says DO NOT WALK

3) They make the coffee for you
I ordered regular coffee and the guy asked me.. "With milk and sugar??" I said... yeah?!?! I'm not used to it.. usually I do it on my own if I have regular coffee.. But in NYC, they actually make it for you..

4) food vendors
We had our quick breakfast at the street on our first day coz we have to meet our itinerary or else we'll be late on our City tour. I think food must be accessible everywhere since New Yorkers are busy and time is very precious for them that they'll eat at the street if they have to.

5) lights
Oh. Las Vegas is nothing compared to NY because of its colorful lights.. We took the Holiday Lights tour and we saw all the wonderful light display in 5th ave, the famous Rockefeller Christmas Tree, Grand Central's Laser light show and Time Square.

6) winter wear
Scarf, beanie and gloves are a necessity.. I love matching my scarf and beanie with my outfit but I stopped and wonder, will I ever use these when I go back to LA? Jerson even asked us.. are people in LA wear scarf.. and we said.. ".. for porma!!!" hehehe.. and it's true

7) Subway
The subway is the quickest way to get around The City. We tried it on our first day after we had our Statue of Liberty ferry ride at Battery Park. We bought $2.00 one ride Metrocard and asked the staff for direction to Time Square.. She gave us letters and numbers which we didn't understand. It can be a little confusing at first coz there are several different lines and plenty of interchanges.

We then bought the 'unlimited ride' Metrocard weekly pass ($21) that same night on our way to Serendipity. We used hopstop.com for directions and the site was very helpful. After that, we always use the subway and skip the bus tour..

Things to remember: Always have a subway map to plan everything ahead. The most important thing to know is if you are going uptown or downtown. Once you know that, at least you're in the right direction.

I really love it.. instead of walking.. take the subway!!! you never need to have tired feet again!!

8) H&M stores
Oh, almost everything is on sale and the quality is good too.. We don't have H&M in LA so this is something you'd see in NY only.

9) central heaters
I just love it everytime we go back to our hotel.. Centralized heaters.. just what I need after walking outside...

10) tennis shoes
Oh, if you want to walk and see the wonderful places in Manhattan, use your most comfortable shoes.. If you want to look fabulous and use your stylish boots, only use it for a short walk or if you'll gonna watch a play or stand at Time Square for the countdown.. (oh, I only used my knee-high-3inch-boots on New Year's Eve and on our way back to LA)

11) electronic stores
It's all over the place.. they sell mostly cameras and laptops.. my Sony T11 that you'd rarely see in electronic stores here in LA is available here... The price is expensive though compared to Fry's (my fave techie store here in LA)..

12) broadway shows
Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Movin' Out.. you name it!!! It's all here.. Of course, it's Broadway!!! We took a chance to get a discounted ticket at TKTS booth in Time Square. We want to see Wonderful Town at Al Hirschfeld Theatre but they are not selling discounted tickets there for that musical. We're not sure if we still want to see it or just watch something else.. but when we personally met Brooke Shield after her show and I let her sign my playbill that I only picked on the floor, I got so star struck. We bought tickets the next day ($101 each) and watched Wonderful Town. It's a good musical and highly recommended.

13) Delis for breakfast
Oh, we have bacon and eggs, bagel with cream cheese and coffee every morning. There's 2 delis that's right beside our hotel but my favorite is the one with a lot of seats. It's nice to stay there and plan what to do next for the day.

14) skyscrapers
The Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, apartments at upper west side, modern buildings.. i just love looking up and taking pictures of the great building architectures in Manhattan.

15) Pastrami
If you want to try the BEST pastrami... go to Carnegie Deli at 55th and 7th Ave. It's one of the "101 Things to Do Before You Die".. hmmm

(from Darwin)
i miss u in NY
miss ko na naka-akay ka lagi sa kin..coz' its cold..
miss ko na lagi mo dala subway sched
miss ko na lagi ka naka smile bout anything and everything
di ko miss yung bagal mo maglakad hehehehe

I (heart) N.Y.

I just watched the archived streaming video of New Year's Eve 2004 Ball dropping event in Time Square earlier. You may check it here. We weren't able to see the ball drop from where we stand because it's being blocked by the Buffalo billboard. 10 steps is all we need and we'd be at the corner of Planet Hollywood where the ball is visible.. Security is really tight, you can't even go near Time Square after 4pm.. Good thing our hotel is within that area and we're able to pass security.. Thanks to our GOLDEN KEY (as what Steve coined it.. hehehe).

All of us sang the New york, new york song of Frank Sinatra after the ball drop. I really miss New York. I always check earthcam to see what's going on there.

Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today
I want to be a part of it - new york, new york
These vagabond shoes, are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it - new york, new york

I wanna wake up in a city, that doesn't sleep
And find I'm king of the hill - top of the heap

These little town blues, are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it - in old new york
If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you - new york, new york

New york, new york
I want to wake up in a city, that never sleeps
And find I'm a number one top of the list, king of the hill
A number one

These little town blues, are melting away
I'm gonna make a brand new start of it - in old new york
And if I can make it there, I'm gonna make it anywhere

It's up to you - new york new york
