October and November Update

WOW! Two months and no blog post. I still twit and update status on facebook though and it feels more natural to give 'in the moment' updates there. Here goes:

Oct 1 -5
I had my balikbayan box picked up to be delivered to the Philippines. It's full of goodies for my nephews, siblings and my mom. It's an early Christmas gift for my family back home which I miss dearly. watched the VP debate and was really looking forward to Palin then had dinner at Versailles. Over the weekend, I just stayed home and watched movies. Been going to Farmer's market every Wednesdays at Northridge

Oct 6 -12
Went back to the gym to get those abs flat so I can wear my swimsuit for our Hawaii trip. I cant wait! Burned 100 calories. Had another project release which was successful. Got a lot of praises for this one as it helped our users get details about customer accounts more effective and more efficient. (Just had annual evaluation with by boss and he gave me 'exceed performance' rating... will I get a raise or a promotion? we'll see). Watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall on MBP then had dinner at Pho So (I love Vietnamese food, next to Thai of course!)

Oct 13 - 19
I had to leave work early due to the Simi brush fire. Went to the gym and burned 150 calories while watching the baseball game. I had a dentist appointment then watched the 3rd and last presidential debate. I saw the other 2 debates too. Gobama! Started looking for 1TB HDD at Fry's and I decided to wait until Black Friday. (The 1TB HDD which I ordered from amazon.com was delivered yesterday). Went to Bakersfield for the weekend to celebrate my uncle's birthday. I got him Porto's cheese roll which he requested. Spent quality time with my cousins which I seldom see. On Sunday, we went to church then had dinner at Friday's

Oct 20 - 26
I had my first In-n-Out animal style french fries. The 60th anniversary special was a hoax (I knew it!) The G1 phone was released (Meh!) Went to a nail spa after work then bought a pair of shoes at DSW. Went to iPhone tech talk which was really informative. I still havn't created my iPhone app yet.. I dont have time to do it =( Went to Emy and Alan's wedding (Darwin's cousin) at Oddysey and it was a lovely. Darwin caught the garter from the bride and they were teasing him that he'll be next ;) Celebrated Lola Nene's bday with the Acuna clan and we had a blast! I created my first collage album from iPhoto and it's our gift to Lola Nene.

Oct 27 - Nov 2
I was late for my doctor's appointment so I had to wait for an hour..Ugh! The next day, we went to Staples Center for Lakers Opening game with Blazers. I created a poster that says 'Kobe MVP again' but it was too big that I can't bring it in. :( It was alright coz we won! I havn't been to a Lakers game were they lost! We also had free tacos since the opponent scored less than 100 points. On Halloween eve, we went to West Hollywood which is the mecca of gay peeps in LA! I saw a lot of interesting costumes and I enjoyed taking pictures of them. My fave is lil red riding hood in CK underwear! On Sunday, I went with Tin to play badminton at Valley college. I used to play badminton every week back in Pinas with my co-workers at Ford. It's nice to finally found an indoor gym and I was NOT surprised that the gym was full of Pinoys with one Japanese ;)

Nov 3 - 9
Obama wins! It's a historical event and we were part of it! He's our first African-American president. The next day, we went for another Lakers game and took the Metro this time. Darwin made the poster and he was shown on TV holding it :) On weekend, I had a haircut then bought our first Christmas tree. Went to another badminton game and we recruited more people to join us. ;)

Nov 10 - 16
We had dinner at Kyushu Ramen and I ordered Tonkatsu while Darwin got Pork curry. It's been a loooong time since I had Jap food. Darwin took his midterm exam then he asked me to go to the movies and watch James Bond. It's his first 007 ever! Jannie and Sherwin hosted a taco night at their place and we planned our Christmas party. Steph had her despedida party at Music Box in Hollywood. Went to another badminton game on Sunday.

No 17 - 23
Darwin bought Kyochon chicken for dinner. It is our favorite Korean fried chicken. We introduced it to our friends when we discovered it last year and they've been coming back to that place too. The next day, I had to stay late at work to complete the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) for on of our applications. Afterwards, I went to Ross to buy luggage for our Hawaii trip. On Friday, I had another major project release which took 5 hours to complete. I went to a birthday dinner party at 9ish pm then to Arclight theatre to watch Twilight. I had to exchange seats with Eric so Tin, Chai and I are in the same row. For the first time, Darwin didn't sleep ;) On Sunday, we went to Ajae's 3rd birthday with Liz and Andrew. We had to take Darwin's nephew coz it's a children's party ;) I had a heart to heart talk with Liz.

Nov 25-30
After watching HBO's special about Manny Pacquiao, we went Nat's Thai where the 'Pacman' eats dinner after his training. We had a quick chat with the owner and he practically gave us the day to day schedule of Manny. After a few minutes, reporters from the Philippines came in with Freddie Roach who is Pacman's trainer. We decided to go back on Friday and we're able to get a glimpse of Manny, a photo op with him and his autograph. We'll watch his fight tonight and I hope he wins.
