This was taken last Friday at a 711 store in Burbank that was turned into a Simpsons-inspired Kwik-e-mart. We went there around 12mn right after feeding Sherwin's fish and surfing the net. Oh, we just got our cable TV and internet this Tuesday. I'm so happy that it's back and I can surf the net til I get sleepy. Anyways, there's only a handful Kwik-e-marts across the US and we're lucky to have one in the valley. Here are more pictures I found on flickr.

Las Vegas Party
Friday - Left LA at 7ish and we ate the chicken jerky that I had earlier (lunch food) on our way to vegas. It was kinda messy but I have "wet ones" ready so it's Ok. I had enough sleep the other night so I was very talkative and energetic and that way, Darwin wont fall asleep while driving. The last time we went to Vegas was Feb this year and it was cold.. Now, it's like HELL!! Temperature goes up to 110F.
The iPhone was very helpful in navigating our trip coz Garmin (GPS) is not updated and it can't recognize the 210 freeway. Garmin keeps telling us to take Interstate-5 which we took last Feb. I dont want to go back to Pearl Blossom coz that highway is creepy. The iPhone doesn't speak like Garmin though, but you can go to the next direction manually. What's nice about it is you can see the satellite maps. Ok, enough on iPhone. haha
We had coffee at Starbucks in Barstow, which is our usual stop coz it's midway to Vegas. I had the usual too.. white chocolate mocha.. 2 hours later, we're in Vegas!!! We got there at 11:30pm and we're already sleepy and tired so we just stayed in the hotel.
Saturday - I woke up at 9am and took a shower. I told Darwin that instead of gambling and losing all of our money, we'll just buy something. So, we went to Fashion Show Mall and it's a "ginormous" mall (hey, this word was just added to the dictionary, FYI) They have Saks Fifth, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus... all the classy stores. We had breakfast first at the food court then we headed to Louis Vuitton. I've been wanting to have their purse coz it never goes out of style. I aldready know what I want coz I've been looking at eLuxury.com since last week. So I bought the Damier Canvas Speedy 30. I love it! I promise myself I wont spend anything til the end of the year.

We went to Venetian to meet up with our friends. I was fascinated by Peter Lik's photos.. those are just amazing. Then we went to Darwin's uncle for lunch at 2ish. We had Jollibee and we stayed for a while and had chicka. Both his uncle are funny. I think it runs in the family. hehe
Dinner. We met up with our other group of friends at Salt Lik BBQ. Jannie and Sherwin will only stay until Monday and they will go hiking in Arizona. I would love to do that, I hope I can convice Darwin next time... but maybe during fall coz I cant stand the Summer heat. Jamie and Vicky will leave on Sunday... we call them our "Chinese" friends except for Sherwin who's pure Chinese but knows Tagalog. haha I also met up with Kim who lives right across Red Rock Hotel and we had a nice chat with bonus chismis.

Clubbing. We decided to go to Tao Nightclub where you'll see Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan dancing. It's a famous nightclub in Vegas that I think everyone went there that night. It took us 20 minutes to get in and once you're in... there's another line to go to the 2nd level which plays hip hop. I had my my usual drink, midori sour and Adios motherf****r. It was soooo disappointing coz we cant even dance coz it's over crowded. There's a lot of empty seats but they wont even let you sit because it's for VIPs only... which really sucks.. You have to pay $800 for bottle service. Grrr.. But at the latter part of the night, we found a room and danced the night away (with an aching feet). By 2am, we decided to go home and rest.

Sunday. Went to Bellagio to take pictures of the garden which they change quarterly then we went to church to hear mass. Had lunch at Grand Lux Cafe for Dinah's 30th Birthday. I had Shrimp Scampi and Darwin had beef with veggies. Left Vegas at 5pm and got home at 12mn. That was a tiring week but lots of fun!

Friday the 13th update
This is the busiest week I've ever had.. both work and non-work related. I dont even have time to check my (personal) planner and update it. I don't wanna bore you with work stuff coz it's all just meetings and trainings =P Here goes...
July 1 (Mon) - Had lunch with Darwin's family at Salu-salo in Glendale. It's summer sale so I bought a bra at Victoria Secret and lotion & shower gel at Bath & Body Works. I love their sweet pea scent.
July 2 (Mon) - We went out with Jannie, Sherwin, Alan and Sherinie and had dinner at Cafe Columbia in Burbank. We had fro-yo afterwards at Pink Berry
July 3 (Tue) - watched Transformers with our friends at The Galleria
July 4 (wed) - No work... It's independence day. We went to Arclight then had BBQ at the twins. I will have a separate post on this.
July 5 (Thu) - Went to Northridge mall to get a pair of shoes for Chris' wedding
July 6 (Fri) - I had my nails done at Top Nails in Northridge with Jannie. Then I helped her choose a pair of shoes then we had sushi for dinner. Had a nice chat with her.
July 7 (sat) - Chris and Janet's 777 wedding.. will post more later..
July 8 (Sun) - Went to Joyce then slept all day. I missed church =(
July 9 (Mon) - I returned the shoes I bought at DSW last Thursday. I only kept one pair of shoes out of the three I had =P You can return merchandise in 30 days and you still get money back.. but make sure you keep the receipts coz I was about to return an item at Ross but I lost the receipt so all I can do is exchange it.
July 10 (Tue) - Went to the dry cleaner to get my winter clothes and dress cleaned.
July 11 (Wed) - Our boss treated us out to lunch at Sawasdee Thai restaurant. We had good conversation about hobbies, family, etc. I went to church for the Perpetual Help novena at 7pm then did laundry for 4 hours. Darn, I did 8 wash loads until 12mn. I was really tired last night... I dont even have time to eat.
July 12 (Thu) - I called San Diego Wild Animal Park hotline to buy tickets for our trip on July 29. It's all planned out and I already know what to except.. thanks to tripadvisor.com. I wish I can get good shots of animals because I took the Safari caravan for photo ops and close interaction with the animals. Im so excited.
Today... packed my things for Vegas. I hope we'll have a safe trip

My iPhone experience
Pre-iPod launch, I told myself that I would rather wait for the 2nd gen iPhone instead of getting it right away because of 2 reasons: first, bugs and lots of 'em and second, it's too big for me and it looks soo heavy. On June 28, I saw this video from youtube about this tech guy's review on iPhone. It's all positive reviews except for a couple of things that are unecessary, like AT&T is the only one who offers it (we're on AT&T so we're good) and the battery isn't replaceable and you have to bring it over to Apple to fix it (this is not a really BIG problem). It sort of changed my mind a lil bit into buying one because of it's sleak feature and you'll get a phone + iPod with internet. How cool is that?
June 29 @ 7pm (Launch day), I came home from gym and Darwin told me to watch Attack of the Show and check out more iPhone reviews. It talks about anything techie and the host wants to get an iPhone too but he can't leave coz he has to do his job first. He's sooo funny when he begged for an iPhone from Steve Jobs. Nobody got any special treatment from Apple, even celebrities didn't get any free gifts from them. If you want it, you have to get it... =P Which I did!!! I'm 100% sure that I really REALLY like it. I asked Darwin to come with me and get an iPhone at Fashion Square mall. There was no line when we got there but we do not know if they have any in stock coz it's been 3 hours since they released it. They only have the 4GIGs left and it's Ok for me since 4gig is too much for a phone. So I got it for $499. I asked Darwin to get one too and I'll give it to him as a gift but he'd like to get the 8gig.. you know guys, they want the best out there... the bigger the better.. so we went to Santa Monica and they still have a lot in stock.. so we both have iPhones!
We got home around 11pm and we stayed up all night just to play around with our new toy. Here's my review:
1) LOVE the main menu screen. All you see are the things that you need like SMS, Calendar, Map, etc. On some phones, there's a lot of things cluttered that you dont really need and sometimes, they are confusing.
2) LOVE how you can view pictures by tilting the iPhone so you can have a larger view of it Also, it's cool how you can zoom in the photos just by sliding two of your fingers outwards. If you want to go to the next picture, just slide your finger left or right. Oh yeah, it's all touch screen.
3) LOVE the way you can search any business lets say.. Starbucks, which will show all listings near your area, how to get there and the option to call them and ask what time they close.
4) LOVE the traffic report. I've been wanting to have a this feature since I started driving here in LA. I take the freeway everyday and it helps to get an idea how heavy the traffic is so I can take an alternate route.
5) LOVE the way you browse the REAL internet using Safari. It's the way you see websites on Internet Explorer and not the distorted ones like WAP, etc. This is the main reason why I bought the iPhone coz I have limited internet access at work. Rigt after lunch, I accessed yahoo mail and friendster. Sweet!
6) LOVE the way you get alerts when you get NEW email. It's hooked to my yahoo mail.
7) LOVE the way you can listen to mp3 while doing anything like say, browsing the internet. It does multi-tasking.
8) More later.. I'm sure there's still more to discover.
LOVE IT!!! It has changed the way I use a phone. It has definitely stepped up the level on phone standards. I'll give it a year or two and this will become a standard phone for everyone like what Apple did with iPod as the mp3 player that everybody wants to have. =P
I had my 4th Gen iPod for 3 years now (it's an anniv gift from Darwin last 2004) and an upgrade to iPhone is worth the wait. Good job Apple.
