KerryEdwards.com

This domain name is currently on auction at Sedo.com for $150,000 USD. Whoa!!! Why? Well it's politically related.. John Kerry and John Edwards are running mates on the upcoming election here in the US and they want to have that domain name. KerryEdwards.com is currently owned by a kid as his personal website. Hmmmm, may bibili kaya ng mitzitomas.com? hehehe I had that before for a year at namezero.com but I cant afford to renew it for $20/yr that time. I can afford it now but it's too late.. sayang....

Chess at YM

My cousin Chris challenged me last Saturday night to play chess with him through Yahoo Messenger. I wasn't in the mood that time coz I need to dry my hair pa but he told me that he just want to test it and it wont take that long.. Well.. it did.. and he's like teasing me... "Yan ba ang champion? Kelan ka ba mananalo..." then there... he lost his Queen.. he's not paying attention on my moves and what he does is eat-eat-eat!!! Then he wants to "draw" na (to quit the game) but I still dont want to.. I know this guy, ayaw nyang nagpapatalo. CHECK MATE... natulog na ako.

Earlier, went to Ikea to buy some stuffs in my apartment. I got a call from my former co-worker and had a quick chitchat. His name is unique.. Xerxes. Miss na daw nya kme mga co-workers nya and I told him he shouldn't have left us.. anyway, it's a matter of convenience and i think he made the right choice. I bought 3 cushions and a paper towel holder. Ate lunch at Jollibee in Carson, then looked for an electic fan in Fry's and Costco. SOLD OUT!! yeah.. grabe heat wave dito :( well, that explains why they run out of stock it.

Then shopping at 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. I love going there... lots of people, freak shows and EXERCISE.. Dont you know that shopping is a form of exercise?.. hehehe.. I didnt buy any for myself!!! I cant believe it.. Got BR for my bro and Victoria Secret for mom lang. Haay! I miss talking to Darwin, he's with cousin the whole time and I'm with mom.

Bonding daw..

Yeah, it's been awhile since I haven't been with my mom for more that 3 days.. First was when my uncle from Bakersfield moved to their new house (2 days) Memorial Day (3 days), then Independence Day (2 days). This will be the longest since 2003 when I decided to work here in the US. She'll go back to Frisco on July 26 (Mon) to take care of lola (she is diagnosed with lung cancer -- Please pray for lola..)

Monday: Went to Rite Aid to buy some stuffs needed at home. Whoa! it's sooo hot. good thing we bought Dreyer's ice cream (almond mocha) We had BBQ chicken for dinner.

Tuesday: I showed mom how to go to church, It's just a block away from my apartment. While walking, she wants me to take a shot of her with Sony Pictures as the background (hehehe.. will be posted here later) We had grocery at Smart & Final. Mom told me that Tita Imee cant find "Swiffer" in Frisco. We called her and realized this is an imitation, the original brand is "Swifter" but it works the same. So I bought one for her and one for mom to be brought to Pinas.

Soon to be...

EJ Tomas (2nd child of Kuya Mel) Baptism in Malate Church and reception at Max's restaurant. DJ is one of the ninongs. I'll be a godmother soon too!! Ate Gi (my cousin) IM'd me that I'd be a ninang to her 3rd child on October. MM might be my proxy.

My Weekend

Nothing much. Friday, Bought a DVD player at Circuit City for "pasalubong" before mom leaves USA... Saturday, attended Alyssa's 5th birthday party with Darwin. She's the daughter of Raff and Roanne. Sunday, Mom arrived with Tito Noel and Chris. She'll be staying with me for a week. Bought a buffet table, room divider and a door mirror at Target and took a taxi going home. We had fun figuring out how to assemble the buffet table. It took us 2 hours to complete it. We re-arranged my room and had general cleaning. I like my new apartment now. But I still have a list of things to buy.

Things to buy for my pad:
1) Loveseat or sofabed
2) Coffee table
3) Electric fan (what I have is soooo small, it's so hot and I need a bigger one)
4) Bookshelf (will serve as a divider)

DVDs I watched this weekend:
1) Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)
2) Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999)
3) 12 Monkeys (1995)
4) SATC season 6 ep#77
5) Somewhere in Time

Over the weekend

Friday: Secret Window (dvd) Mitzi's review:

Before the secret was revealed and before the movie ends, I already know that Mort Rainey (Depp) is a psycho and Shooter is his other personality... One of the clues I noticed that prooves Shooter is Mort, is when Mort found Greenleaf and his detective dead inside the pickup. Nobody is seated beside the driver (Greenleaf) so I know right then and there that he killed the two.. I kinda compared the movie with Fight Club, but FC is way better than this..hehehe Anyway, Johnny Depp is still sooo handsome even if he looks like a bum...

Saturday: Watched the Terminal at northridge with my cousin Kate. We made Kate pick the movie....we really wanted to see the notebook instead. here's mitzi's review:

I dont like "The Terminal" too. Remember, I'm whispering "Kailan pa ba ito matatapos..." (When will this end?) It's soooo dragging, I think I slept for 2mins. hehehe The movie is a combination of Forrest Gump and Cast Away but this one is really cheesy especially when the crowd cheered for him.. The movie does not finish on an upbeat note: Hank's character gets to meet his dad's favorite jazz musician. Big deal.. Sorry, but this movie is really awful... Let's watch "Anchorman" if Kate wants to go out or something, I just checked the reviews in yahoo movies and it's good.. what u think?

Sunday: Wala lang....

My cousin Kate also mentioned (and mitzi says it also) that she watches movies in pinas all the time...as in all the time...

Over the weekend, mitzi and I had a discussion about the price of movies here in the states. Mitzi said in Pinas, she used to watch movies all the time, something that I dont really do as much here. Movie admission average around 10 dollars here in the states compared to 90 pesos in Pinas(vs.dollars--thats like movies for 2 bucks). I said, if you get the ratio of the average salary of a person here vs. the salary in pinas..the price will probably be the same. Well, we calculated and it turns out...movies are 20 percent more expensive here!!!!! How do u explain that? Hmmm......if only movies cost only 2 bucks here...thats about the price to rent a dvd.

Monday: Watched Sex and the City season 6 episode 1. Got 3 new DVD's to watch-- 12 monkeys, Vanilla Sky and Sleepers (mitzi hasnt seen all 3)

Before Sunset

We did watch the movie, but it was very unexpected because I'm about to sleep and there's not enough time to catch the last screening (10pm) at Laemmle's Theater in Santa Monica. Only independent films are shown here.

Darwin called me around 9:45pm to mapquest the theatre from my place and it's an 11 minute drive. Im having second thoughts of going but I REALLY want to see it so I took off without wearing any makeup and run towards my parking space to meet Darwin. Both of us are pumped up discussing the possibilities of Jesse and Celine's second meeting and on what their initial reaction would be. Had a hard time looking for a parking space but we did make it. The last ad was playing before the movie starts, Good timing huh!

SPOLIERS!!!

The movie was GREAT. It's the perfect answer to the question "what happened?" in Before Sunrise. Did one or neither of them went back to Vienna after 6 months? Did they make love on Dec 16, 1994? (The only clue I saw was that Celine wasn't wearing the T-shirt under her dress on the next morning, noticed that sweets?)

In "Before Sunrise" they were SO intent on doing the mature things and not exchanging phone numbers or writing each other. Now, nine years later they make arguably an irrational decision out of desperation to be together. The cab scene is my favorite one where Jesse talks about his stagnant marriage and frustrations and Celine was about to stroke his hair but didnt. So real...

I think the ending was perfect. It left me asking "Will they end up together?" Celine's waltz song is about her feelings for Jesse and I teared listening to it..Jesse knows he's gonna miss his plane and he doesn't care. His "I know" is one of the best lines ever said.

Most films I've seen are very predictable but this one takes you through the awkward moments that would occur in REAL situations. A great movie, I'd watch this again and again. Cant wait for its DVD release..

Before Sunrise

Last night, I watched "Before Sunrise" with Darwin in my apartment. Back in 2001, I heard the review from Chico and Delamar's Morning Rush of RX 93.1 and they said that it's a good movie.. I watched it but never get the chance to see its ending because I got REALLLY bored. I stopped watching it by the time they rode the bus in Vienna. That's when the kileg moment starts pala.. I missed it before, good thing I was able to see it and the subtitle really helped me keep up with the movie coz Celine's (Julie Delpy) French accent is hard to catch.. Ethan is super cute and the way he looks at her.. eeewww!!! cheesy.. hehehe Everyone can relate in the movie.. it's the "getting-to-know" each other stage. What made me cry is the time they need to part ways and promised they'd meet after 6 months..

This is the poem from the movie:

Daydream delusion
Limousine Eyelash
Oh, baby with your pretty face
Drop a tear in my wineglass
Look at those big eyes
See what you mean to me
Sweet cakes and MILKSHAKES (laughs)
I am a delusion angel
I am a fantasy parade
I want you to know what I think
Don't want you to guess anymore
You have no idea where I came from
We have no idea where we're going
Launched in life
Like branches in the river
Flowing downstream
Caught in the current
I'll carry you. You'll carry me
That's how it could be
Don't you know me (poet hands poem back)
Don't you know me by now

From Huang's website

I can't wait for its sequel, "Before Sunset" ... I'm sure it will be every bit as good as the first one. I wonder what will be their reaction when they meet again. They never met after 6mos as promised but.. after 9 years.. Oh.. I CANT WAIT NA TALAGA!!! We might watch it this Friday.

Earlier, I ate Krispy Kreme glazed donuts with coffee for dinner (weird 'no?) I dunno, I just craved for it.. I remember the time Darwin surprised me at my old apartment in LA with a dozen of Krispy Kreme donuts coz I told him that it's my fave...

Spider-man 2

June 29 (Tue)
Watched Spider-man 2 on midnight "special" screening at the valley. I was surprised that there's no line. We found out that they already let moviegoers in and the attendant told us that we might get seated around and not in the middle... well, we got the "sweet spot" section as what Darwin calls it. I'm kinda sleepy because I wasnt able to take a nap. I know it will run for 2hrs and I still have work the next day. But it was nice to be one of the few who were able to see it coz regular screening is on June 30. I like the scene in the coffee shop where the car almost hit Spidey and Mary Jane and Dr. Octopus arrived.. that was really cool. I heard that that scene was done in Downtown LA and they just changed the street names for it to look more like New York.

June 30 (Wed)
Darwin went to my apartment. We're supposed to go to 3rd street Promenade to return the Banana Republic sandals he ordered online but when I called BR, they will close in 30mins. Store hours is only until 9pm... tsk.. We ate at Versailles for dinner after having a hard time trying to choose where to go, if it's Thai BBQ or Carl's Jr or Mcdo. SLEEP.
