Me Likey

Super Mario Brother for Nintendo DS is my new toy!!! Love it!

I'm stuck at World 6 though. I hope I'd finish it tonight. The guys at work were going crazy about it.. I caught Archie playing it at Beth's room.. I think he's inside the restroom now =P Obi borrowed it too and he refused getting calls for 30 minutes. hehehe BI (bad influence) ata ako =P

Anyway, it's ok.. It's not that busy here coz Memorial Day is coming.. Long weekend. woohooo!! I have to work tomorrow though, but it's alright..

Two-part weekend

PART 1: Seal beach
May 13, I can't remember the last time I went to the beach.. I know it's close where I live and it will only take me 10-15 minutes to Venice or Santa Monica beach.. I dunno, maybe I just take it for granted since I know the beach will always be there =P Anyways, it's a last minute thing.. we only planned it the day before. We're choosing between Newport or Manhattan, but we ended up going to Seal beach. Why if you may ask.. because there's dogs I can play with!!! Geesh.

Check list:
- beach mat (finally.. nagamit din! hehehe)
- coleman cooler
- food: sandwich, junk food, water
- sunblock, moisturizer
- Shopaholic book, Nintendo DS, ipod

I love making a list.. I love planning.. Love it! So, we left at 11ish and then Darwin's Garmin nav system led us to the beach. We missed one turn but we didn't get lost. One thing I don't like is that it's a little annoying coz it repeatly says "Recalculating..." everytime you make a wrong turn. But we totally relied to the nav system. So cool.

We got there around 1ish.. It's a nice beach.. had picnic, read my book, played my DS. We stayed there for a couple of hours coz I can't take the heat anymore. I'd love to stay longer but it's just too much. We bought cinnamon rolls which is sooo delicious.. coz it's homemade, got me a souvenir magnet.

Afterwards, we went to Long Beach marina, then Cerritos mall, then 3rd Street Promenade. We had dinner at Palms Thai (Darwin's fave)... Oh, and we're really hungry by the time we get there.. I think we had dinner at 11:30pm.

New shops at 3rd Street Promenade

Mother's Day
May 14, I sent my mom an ecard. I already sent her my gift through Ate Kay who's in the Philippines right now. Since mom likes Princess Diana so much, I gave here this heavy book that I got from Barnes & Noble. She liked it. I called my aunt and greeted them too. I watched United 93 with Joyce. I gave her coaster for mother's day.. as well as Darwin's mom (white orchids - since she like flowers) and his grandma (scented candle - coz she's very religious). Went to mass then we visited Darwin's mom.. chat for a while.

PART 2: The Da Vinci Code
May 19, went to The Galleria in Sherman Oaks at around 9pm to watch The Da Vinci Code with Darwin. Actually, he wants to see Over the Hedge since he already read the book.. but I insisted coz I got curious with all the buzz and the controversy that the book has created. =P There's a line and we're able to get the 10:30pm show. The theatre was already full when we got in but we still managed to get the "sweet" seat.

You'd enjoy the movie.. I did =) The book/movie is misleading because Brown mixed in some facts and twisted others. Dme nya rin inembento.. like yun cryptex.. I googled it right after we got home and he just coined it. =P

Here's a link that's shows Brown’s “Facts” versus Historical Facts:
http://www.bible.org/page.asp?page_id=2747

Overall.. Ron Howard did a good job. He made the movie exciting. Later, I'm gonna watch National Geographic's History of the Templar Knights.

Christening
Here are some pictures from Ajae's Christening last May 20. Our digicam got lowbat kaya konti lng pictures =P Anyways, we went to Loida's house first before going to Stargazer to test the projector coz Darwin's part of the "technical" team, as what me and Loida's sister calls it.. coz her husband is part of it too =P It worked but the audio is messed up so they just used magic mic as the background music.

Enjoy the pics...

My Therapy

I love this show.. He's the kind of guy you'll love to hate. I started watching this show last month. Since I'd want to know more about the characters, I rented its First Season DVD. I did a marathon of House MD last night and Hugh Laurie is a GREAT actor. Do you know he's Brit? I do not.. until I saw him at Jay Leno's a couple of months back. This show completes my week. =P Other shows that's on my tivo are The Apprentice, American Idol, Sa Piling Mo, Gulong ng Palad and E! News Weekend.

I have a plant at home that I water every night. It's a good feeling to take care of something REAL... a living thing ba? You'd see its improvement.. it grows, the color changes, the leaf gets bigger. All I had before are artificial things... a stuffed puppy, a barking dog (toy), artificial plants and of course my fave Nintedogs. I know it will always be there.. even if I dont do anything with it.. it will still be there.. but right now, it's different. It's like having a puppy =P

Pictorial Day

I just got a copy of my picture from my talented co-worker, Edgar. It's in black and white though... he even provided the frame.. thanks! He took this shot last Wednesday, just right outside our office. He told me he's going to submit this (see above) to his photography class =P Naks.. model na daw ako oh.. hehehe(***charing***)

April 4 - I bought Spam Musubi ingredients at Ranch 99 coz Darwin wants to have that for dinner. We met up to watch the Lakers game. I cooked rice and sauteed the spam to oyster sauce then I fried it. It's hard to wrap the nori without the roller so we end up eating the spam over rice then nori on the side. After several attempts, I have successfully prepared the spam musubi.

Sunday, went to lunch at Bamboo Cuisine in Sherman Oaks with Joyce. I missed mass again =(

Movies last weekend: An Unfinished Life (dvd), Mission Impossible 3 (theatre), Shop Girl (dvd)

Catching up

Forces reunited
Last April 22, I met up with Ivy at Universal City Walk. It has been 5 years since the last time I saw her. I think that was at Ajie's bridal shower. Anyways, we went to Starbucks and had coffee. After an hour or so, I asked her to go shopping. It's nice to see you again Ivy!

The Highlands
It was Janet's 21st birthday... and now she's legal to drink!!! I don't really know her that well but she seems nice. She's Chris' girlfriend and the first time I saw her was at Sherwin's birthday. Roanne and Sherinie was there too so we did a lot of catching up. We went clubbing to Highlands after dinner and I think I drank too much. All I remember is that I keep on hugging anyone and I laugh at anything. After a couple of drinks (Adios MF and Kamakazie shots) and dancing, we got kicked of the club. I was never kicked out before but I guess there's always a first time =P

Birthday Girl
Last April 29, I met up with Jill because it's her birthday. We had lunch at Max's in Glendale and we went shopping afterwards. Our first stop is Express. I'm looking for a pair of pants coz I love their slim tailored pants. But it's weird coz it's either it's too loose for me or it's too tight. So, I didn't get anything. After 3 hours of catching up while shopping, we headed to Porto's to buy their famous cheese roll and potato balls. It's Darwin's fave so I know he'll love it.

New Car
April 30, I got a call from my cousin that they're here in LA. They've just closed a deal at Lexus and they bought two cars... Lexus IS 2006 and ES 2007.. It's really a nice car. The guy who's giving instruction on how to use the car was entertaining. He makes sure that everyone's listening. He asked us if there's any other question and I abruptly asked if it's ipod ready. It is! =P We went to Chowking for lunch and I got myself a halo-halo since I just already had a burger at Burger King. It was TOO hot that day and the halo-halo helped a lot.
